Indigenous People’s Day

 
The New York Foundation respectfully observes Indigenous People’s Day—this upcoming October 8th & 9th, 2017—as a reclamation of Columbus Day, and as a day to celebrate, learn about, and center Indigenous peoples, and their history throughout the Americas, and particularly here in New York City. From Long Island’s Shinnecock Nation to the Lenni-Lenape of the Delaware River Basin, New York State includes many Indigenous nations.

There are various events that will take place across New York City in celebration of Indigenous People’s Day. Below we feature some of these events:
