From Battery Park to Foley Square

This weekend saw numerous demonstrations and rallies in response to executive orders that target one of the country’s most vulnerable populations: immigrants. Many current and former grantees were at the forefront of these marches including the Arab American Association of New York, Make the Road, the New York Immigration Coalition, DRUM, Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, African Communities Together, and countless others. These actions have drawn crowds precisely because community-based organizations, over the years, have built a strong base of New Yorkers ready to make their voices heard around issues that will directly impact their lives. On Sunday, January 29th, New Yorkers gathered in Battery Park and marched to Foley Square. amNewYork collected and shared stunning photographs of this demonstration:
