Speak Justice: Stories from Muslim, Arab, and South Asian Organizers
Our series—Speak Justice: Stories from Muslim, Arab, and South Asian Organizers—profiles a new wave of courageous activists and civil rights pioneers from Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities who are organizing in the face of institutional and systemic challenges, galvanizing new movements, activating communities to greater levels of civic engagement and impact, and sparking new partnerships across issues.
Our second video features Murad Awawdeh, Vice President of Advocacy at The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), where he has extensively organized and led social, environmental, transportation, and climate initiatives. The NYIC is an umbrella policy & advocacy organization that represents over 200 immigrant and refugee rights groups throughout New York. Awawdeh speaks to the diversity of the Muslim community and his experience as a community organizer in New York.
