DACA Changed My Life. And I’m Here to Stay.

Diana, a Youth Power Project Member of Make the Road New York, pens a powerful account of her upbringing as an undocumented immigrant in the United States. Dealing with a childhood of uncertainty and many challenges, she was finally able to qualify for DACA (deferred action for childhood arrivals). This meant, although she wasn’t able to apply for financial aid and student loans, she was able to gain lawful employment that helped her pay for college. Now, with the threat from the current administration to remove DACA, Diana stakes her claim and looks forward to seeing everyone join the demonstration in support of DACA on Wednesday, August 30th at 1 Central Park West, 5pm.
