Improving the Board-Executive Director Relationship
Friday, November 30, 2018
9 am-11 am
$20.00, includes a light breakfast
How would you rate your relationship with your board? If the high point of a 1-5 range is: “I love my board they’re such a valuable partner” and the low point is: “My board is so toxic I dread having any contact with a board member” – where does your relationship fall?
if you’re anywhere below 4.5, this workshop is for you. In this session, we will discuss practical strategies for improving the board-executive director relationship – whether it’s well-intentioned but naive, dysfunctional, or even toxic. And, we’ll talk honestly about knowing when it’s time to leave (or time to change the board – and how).
Cause Effective has a long-deserved reputation as a “board whisperer,” and has also been called an “organizational therapist” – both talents that will be called upon in this seminar. For over 35 years, Cause Effective has strengthened New York City’s nonprofit sector by helping organizations build engaged communities of supporters. We transform people, culture, and systems by coaching nonprofits to learn, carry out and sustain new approaches to board engagement, and fundraising. This session will be co-led by Cause Effective’s Executive Director Judy Levine and Senior Associate David McGoy.
