Bio: Prior to developing the Advocacy Institute, James founded Semantic Management LLC to develop and implement sustainable management and data systems with non-profits, funders, and start-up projects. Offerings include bookkeeping system design and management, strategic planning, database development and the creation of infographics about processes and workflows.

James' work is typically done through interactive, popular-education-style presentations—methods learned over years of international youth education work. James has a strong grounding in social justice and community organizing work. He is a founding member and the financial advisor to Hand in Hand, the domestic employers network, and a core member of the Hummingbird Collective, a funding model supporting the migrant justice movement.

James is a graduate of Harvard College and lives in Brooklyn.
