Bio: Jonathan Westin has served as the Executive Director of New York Communities for Change since January 2013. Under Jonathan’s leadership, NYCC’s fast food worker organizing has captured the imagination of low wage workers across the country and has spread to more than 100 cities. Jonathan has also helped bring together the most powerful progressive organizations in the city of New York to take on entrenched education, housing, and economic inequality.
Prior to becoming Executive Director, Jonathan served as a community organizer with increasing levels of responsibility and trained hundreds of community leaders. He has led efforts to win improvements in charter schools, reform low-wage workplaces, and take action against banks to prevent foreclosures. Jonathan graduated with a BA in Sociology from Northwestern University in 2006.
