Bio: Julia is the Director of Community Organizing and Advocacy at Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation in Brooklyn, New York. She and her team organize parents and young people to improve schools and also organize tenants to protect affordable housing. She coordinates advocacy work in the organization, including building staff capacity to integrate advocacy into a wide-range of education and service programs.
Previously, Julia was a community organizer with Cypress Hills Advocates for Education, coordinator of family support programs and elementary school counselor at a large public elementary school in San Francisco, California. Julia received a B.A. from Williams College and a Masters Degree in social work from Hunter College.
